MANILA, Philippines — The National Capital Region (NCR) will remain under COVID-19 Alert Level 2 for the rest of the month of February, Malacañang announced Monday.
In a statement, acting presidential spokesperson and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) retained the alert level status of NCR from February 16 to February 28.
The announcement comes after the council of Metro Manila mayors recommended the extension of Alert Level 2 in the capital region for the rest of the month despite declining COVID-19 cases.
Under Alert Level 2, some establishments are allowed to operate at 50 percent indoor capacity for fully vaccinated persons (and even unvaccinated minors), and 70 percent outdoor capacity.
Meanwhile, the IATF has placed the following areas under Alert Level 3 from February 16 to 28, 2022:
- Iloilo City
- Iloilo Province
- Guimaras
- Zamboanga City
- Davao de Oro
- Davao Occidental
- South Cotabato
Under Alert Level 3, several establishments will be allowed to operate at 30 percent indoor venue capacity for fully vaccinated individuals, and 50 percent outdoor venue capacity, provided that employees are fully vaccinated.
The conduct of religious gatherings, and operations of personal care services, recreational venues are limited, while in-person classes, contact sports, funfairs, and casinos are among those prohibited under this alert level.
