MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and Department of Health (DOH) target to use the P1.16-billion refund of the Sanofi Pasteur from the unused Dengvaxia vaccine, as the supplemental budget of the government’s program for Dengvaxia vaccinees.
The proposal states the allocation of P131-million for the expenses of health personnel working under the program; P261-million for the distribution of medical kits and more than P768-million for their medical assistance.
Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno said the fund will be allocated to the hospital expenses of several patients.
“As far as I know there’s no limit on the assistance of the in-patient,” said the budget secretary.
Diokno noted the government should assure first that they are among the 870,000 Dengvaxia recipients.
“Yung ang hinahanap namin, baka naman may mga ghost vaccinees pa rin doon di ba,” said Diokno.
(What we are looking for are the legitimate recipients, because there might be ghost vaccines there.)
The DBM is expecting Congress to discuss the proposed supplemental budget upon the resumption of its session in May. — Nel Maribojoc | UNTV News & Rescue
