MANILA, Philippines — The national government will hold a symbolic vaccine rollout for workers belonging to the A4 or the fourth priority group on June 7, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said on Wednesday.
“Mayroon po kaming tatawagin na symbolic rollout this coming June 7. It will be attended by high officials and secretaries,” Galvez said in a media interview.
“Ito ay ina-apply na ng maraming LGUs considering we have to protect our economic and government workers,” he added.
Galvez said local government units will also hold similar events on Monday for their economic and government frontline workers.
He, however, said that the actual rollout of vaccination for A4 workers will start once the main bulk of the COVID-19 vaccine supply from the World Health Organization-led COVAX facility has arrived in the country.
“Ang pinaka-rollout talaga sa economc frontliners at government workers ay pag dumating na ang main bulk from COVAX, yung Pfizer at yung almost 2 million na Sinovac. So more or less, meron tayong 5 million this June 15. Nakikita natin na medyo okay na ang ating supply this mid of June,” he said.
The prioritization of the A4 workers will also be based on age.
Galvez said essential workers aged 40 and above will first get the vaccination as they usually take maintenance medicine and they are vulnerable to diseases.
