MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines on Wednesday recorded 4,700 new cases of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), bringing the cumulative tally to 1,159,071 government data showed.
In the latest bulletin, the Department of Health said the number of active cases has declined to 49,951. Of these cases , 92.8 percent are mild, 2.2 percent are asymptomatic, 1.36 percent are moderate, 2.1 percent are severe, and 1.5 percent are in critical condition.
The DOH noted in its report that seven laboratories have failed to submit data on time.
Only 30,829 samples were tested on Monday, of which 13.8 percent were found positive for the virus, it added.
Total recoveries climbed to 1,089,613 with 6,986 new recovered patients.
The death toll also rose by 136, bringing the tally to 19,507, the DOH said.
