MANILA, Philippines — The daily coronavirus disease (COVID-19) tally hit 1,790 with total cases reaching over 537,000 as of February 7 at 4:00 p.m.
Based on the Department of Health (DOH) bulletin, recoveries reached 11,388 while 70 deaths were recorded. The total number of cases recorded is 537,310 with 499,798 recoveries and 11,179 deaths.
The bulletin also showed that 55 cases that were previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
Meanwhile, a health professional group has urged the private sector to follow the priority list provided by the government for the COVID-19 vaccination program.
Health Professionals Alliance Against COVID-19 (HPAAC) convener Dr. Antonio Dans said the priority list should be observed to lessen the number of cases recorded in the country.
Dans clarified that all Filipinos should be vaccinated but the most vulnerable to the virus and the health workers should be vaccinated first.
“Hindi naman sinasabi na healthcare workers lang at senior citizens at may sakit lang ang bibigyan. Ang sinsabi lang natin sino ang dapat mauna? (We are not saying only healthcare workers and senior citizens should be inoculated. What we are saying is that who should receive the vaccination first?)” he said.
DOH Spokesperson Maria Rosario Vergeire assures that the officials in the department agreed to follow the priority list.
“Halimbawa senior citizen ka o comorbid ka, magkakaron ka at kasali ka.
Pero kung hindi, pupunta tayo kung saan ka dapat naka-linya. Kami sa DOH, kung di kami kasama sa priorities, di kami makikipag-unahan. Aantayin namin turn namin (For example you’re a senior citizen or you’re comorbid, you will be included in the list. But if not, we put you in the category where you should be assigned. We in the DOH, if we are not included in the priority category, we are willing to wait for our turn),” she said. –AAC (with reports from Aiko Miguel)
